On Tuesday 20th June 2023, Bishop Ralph visited our school to celebrate Mass and to bless and officially open our new library. Mass was attended by Matthew Stables and Chris Wheater from John Hill Associates Ltd, Nick Brocklehurst from PS Construction Ltd, our Governors, parishioners, the diocese and our parents/grandparents.

Congratulations to the children who made their First Holy Communion this year.

St Luke & St John’s class told the events of the Easter story with such passion. The emotion came through perfectly. All cast members worked hard to learn their lines and spoke clearly and confidently. They all worked well as a team to help each other with the difficult stage directions, props and music.

Foundation Stage, St Matthew and St Mark’s class re-told some of the events of Holy Week to a full hall. The children worked hard to learn their lines and sang beautifully. Well done children and thank you to all who came to support them.

St Matthew's planned and led our whole school collective worship. We enjoyed gathering together and joining the circle!

We were excited to join together in the hall for a whole school collective worship led by Y5/6. Our Chaplaincy Team member supported the planning and delivery of this special collective worship.

We gathered together for an Ash Wednesday Mass to celebrate the beginning of Lent. Parents and carers were invited to share this special Mass too.

On 5th October 2022,  we visited the relics of St Bernadette with three Y6 children. We learnt about St Bernadette's story and we were able to write a prayer which will be taken to Lourdes. We also blessed ourselves with holy water.

We made Advent wreaths ready for our whole school Liturgy led by Mrs Gac. Our Advent wreaths will be a focal point for our collective worships over Advent and each class will gather around these together.

To begin the school year, all of the children and staff participated in a Welcome Mass which was delivered by Father Sixtus. At the end of the Mass, to welcome them to full time education, we gifted each of our Reception children with a panel, 'Our Journey of Love, Faith and Growth.' The children were given their special gift from their buddy in Y5/6.
