Long Term Plan for Virtue to Live By Themes
Virtue to Live By Assemblies
At Our Lady's, the children try their best to live by the virtues that help them live a holy life. Each week, they are encouraged to explore a virtue and show that they have lived by it through their actions. The virtue is on display in the classroom and throughout the week, the children are encouraged to add examples of how their have shown this virtue.
During our Virtue to Live By assemblies, the Chapliancy Team help the children to review their actions towards each virtue.
The Chaplaincy Team lead Virtues to Live By assemblies on Mondays for the whole school.

Gospel Assemblies
The Chaplaincy Team help to deliver Gospel assemblies every week; these take place on Wednesdays. The Chaplaincy Team work with the class teachers to organise resources, lead role-play and hotseating activities, meditation and song.
Mass in school
The Chaplaincy Team help to plan and deliver school-based Mass. We provide the children with a Mass planning template. The children work together to make decisions about the hymns and readings they would like to include in Mass, they explore the meaning of the gospel, write the bidding prayers and give out roles.

Classroom Prayer Areas
Each classroom has a dedicated, liturigcally themed prayer area. These areas include our school prayers and the also other key prayers that the children know. Each dedicated prayer area includes a large crucifix and other objects that the children can focus on during prayer such as pebbles, guardian angel stones, candles, religious artefacts, prayer books and a Bible. We are also lucky enough to have a dedicated prayer area outside; this is called Our Lady's Prayer Garden.
Advent Wreaths 2023
Last year, the Chaplaincy Team worked together to make each class an Advent Wreath and they also made wreaths and for the hall and main entrance to school. The Chalpaincy Team led our Blessing of The Advent Wreath Liturgy. The wreaths were blessed by Father Emmanuel with Holy Water.
During Advent, the wreaths formed the focal point for Collective Worship each day; the children gathered around the wreath and lit each candle in turn as Advent progressed.
Our Chaplaincy Team worked together to create Advent Wreaths for each of the classrooms, the church and our school hall.
