Online Safety

At Our Lady's, the safety and wellbeing of our pupils is our highest priority. We recognise that digital technologies and the internet play an important role in education and daily life, and we are committed to ensuring that children use these technologies safely, responsibly, and positively.

Our Commitment to Online Safety

We take a proactive approach to online safety by:

  • Teaching pupils how to stay safe online, including how to protect their personal information, behave responsibly, and report concerns.

  • Integrating online safety education into the curriculum and assemblies in an age-appropriate way.

  • Promoting respectful and responsible use of technology both in school and at home.

Safeguarding Measures in School

To help protect pupils, we:

  • Use filtered and monitored internet access on all school devices.

  • Have clear policies in place, including an Online Safety Policy and Acceptable Use Agreements for pupils and staff.

  • Train staff regularly to recognise and respond to online safety concerns, including cyberbullying and online grooming.

  • Take swift and appropriate action when online safety issues are identified.

Working in Partnership with Parents and Carers

We believe that online safety is most effective when schools and families work together. We aim to:

  • Keep parents informed about online safety risks and emerging issues.

  • Provide guidance and resources to support safe internet use at home.

  • Encourage open communication between children, parents, and the school about online experiences and concerns.

Reporting Concerns

If parents or carers have any concerns about their child’s online safety or digital behaviour, we encourage them to contact the school as soon as possible. All concerns will be taken seriously and handled in line with our safeguarding procedures.

By working together, we can help ensure that our pupils enjoy the benefits of the digital world while staying safe and secure.
