Inclusion

Equality, Diversity & Inclusion at OLPH

Every child is welcomed, valued and supported to thrive.

At OLPH we believe that every child deserves to feel safe, included and able to succeed, whatever their background, needs or starting point. Equality, Diversity and Inclusion are part of our everyday practice, not an add‑on.

How we support every learner

  • Our curriculum is planned from each child’s starting point, ensuring all pupils, including those with SEND, pupils eligible for Pupil Premium, those new to English or new to the country, can access learning confidently.
  • Daily high‑quality phonics teaching, targeted keep‑up support, and matched reading books help every child learn to read well.
  • Attendance systems are supportive and family‑focused, and our 10:00am phonics timetable ensures children who struggle with morning routines don’t miss key learning.
  • Our behaviour approach is calm and consistent and we help pupils understand and manage emotions.

Removing barriers

  • All pupils with SEND have a personalised plan which includes their own voice and what helps them to learn.
  • Late arrivals and new‑to‑country pupils receive rapid baseline assessments and a warm, structured induction.
  • Fine‑motor and handwriting support, language‑rich classrooms and diverse texts help pupils access the full curriculum.

Belonging and personal development

  • Children enjoy a wide range of enrichment: class visits, class visitors, choir oppotunities, community projects, cultural events and Care for Creation activities (to name just a few) these build pupil confidence and leadership.
  • PE and Sport Premium funding helps broaden participation and remove financial barriers.

The difference this makes

Pupils at OLPH, including those who are disadvantaged or have SEND, make strong progress from their starting points. Parent voice shows high levels of happiness and engagement, and targeted support ensures that any concerns are acted on quickly.

At OLPH, every child is known, every child is valued, and every child can thrive.
